A Volunteer-run, Community-led Approach to Camp

It takes a village to weave a village!

Firekeepers Village Camps change lives. In 2017, a few shining souls ignited a spark of nature-connected community and we are passionate about keeping it alight! 

Our volunteer-run, community-led approach means that Village Camp only happens if we, the village, make it happen! And so at any given time throughout the year a devoted group of villagers volunteer their time and skills, their passions and unique gifts to carry the village flame from one camp to the next – one in Autumn, another in Spring.

All the roles and responsibilities necessary for bringing camp to life – from ticketing to tarp setup – are entirely filled by volunteer members from our incredible nature-inspired community. We call this rotating group of devoted firekeepers the NEST. This organisational Nest is as diverse and dynamic as any thriving ecosystem, each with its own constellation of experiences and capacities, all united by a devotion to NATURE CONNECTION and COMMUNITY.

Our vision is that our sustainable and replicable community-led approach to Village Camp will provide an opportunity for every valued member of our community to contribute to the tending of our village fire, and an invitation for new willing hands to hold while others take rest. 

This organisational Nest share the load of programming, crafting comms, managing logistics, coordinating mentors, crunching numbers and brewing magic! Nestlings have found that in return for their service, they are gifted with an opportunity for community collaboration and repair, a safe place to share and nurture their unique gifts and skills and the cup-filling joy of service for the benefit of all beings.

At the end of each camp an opportunity will arise for the previous Nest to step aside and a new constellation of willing villagers to step in to tend to the burning embers for the next camp.
