DESCRIPTION:You are invited to explore Darebin Parklands to deepen your nature connection and natural curiosity with us these school holidays. \nDo you have a wild child on your hands?\nWould you love to see your kids more connected to nature?\nMeet and play with other kids and nature connection mentors this winter in the magical bushland of the Darebin Parklands..\nLearn and play some wilderness awareness and nature games\, discover more about the plants\, birds and creatures that share the city with us. We may have a go trying to light a fire by friction and wild crafting with bush materials.\nJoin with fun nature connection mentors; together we will explore\, wander along the creek\,  taste some bush foods\, listen for the language of birds\, practice the art of camouflage\, sneak to get a closer look at animals\, follow tracks\, to discover more about the plants\, birds and creatures that share the city with us. \nOur family friendly nature connection sessions are aimed at 4-11 year olds. Parent participation is optional. While younger siblings may attend at no cost\, they will need to be supervised by their parents/guardians. Kids need to bring a backpack with water\, snacks\, raincoat and a picnic lunch for the end. \nThese school holidays we are running sessions on the 3rd and 9th of July check the booking link here: www.trybooking.com/BDIDC for current availability 🙂 Bookings essential. \nThrough our nature clubs\, workshops and family camps we provide opportunities for people to connect to each other\, the natural world and a like-minded community. Whether you have been a Currawong Kid for 2 years\, or come on a camp or been to a holiday program of ours or simply like what we do\, we’d like to invite folks to come together for a day of celebration\, connection and community. \nThere will be lots of time for our favourite games\, storytelling\, and maybe even some crafts and skill shares. \nWhat to bring : Pack your picnic baskets with BBQ goods and a plate of something healthy to share. Your owl eyes and kangaroo ears\, any nature stories you’re busting to share\, sun protection and water! \nWhere : Westerfolds Park in Templestowe. Upon entering the park from Fitzsimmons Lane follow the road and stop at the first carpark on the left. You will see a playground and a shelter. We will meet in this area. \nWe hope to see you there!
